Kitimat is located in the North-western region of British Columbia, and is accessible by air, via the Terrace/Kitimat Regional Airport, located a short 45 minutes away from Kitimat city centre. Our airport is currently serviced by Canadian Airlines and Hawk Air Aviation, the North's newest full service airline offering regular flights to and from Vancouver International Airport. There are 5 flights a day out of Terrace/Kitimat airport allowing for easy connections to national and international flights.
Kitimat is serviced by a fully paved highway system. It is accessible from Terrace via Highway 37 South, connecting to Highway 16 which runs west to Prince Rupert and east to Prince George, where it then connects with the Yellowhead Highway 97.
The Northwest region is also serviced by the British Columbia Ferry Corporation, which sails along the inside passage from Port Hardy, on Vancouver Island, to Prince Rupert, which is approximately 2.5 hours via the fully paved highway from Kitimat.
